The Aqua
This swimming pool building is a concept of water droplet. The free form shape building symbolizes the convergence of two water droplet, in which the larger volume accommodates a lap pool and the kids pool and diving pool situated on the other.
In response to the residential tall building site, the building is lifted up to second level for a wide view of the harbour front. On the ground floor,
the use of glass curtain wall creates a translucent space, enabling fluid circulation, as well as encouraging people to go through the pathway to
the Aldrich bay promenade.
The building is in consistence with the water refracted inside with an interior courtyard, illuminating the ground floor. While on the first floor,
it serves the function of swimmming pool and provides indoor and outdoor swimming experience for swimmer, and the surrounding walkway
for the visitors, in order to introduce the sports to public and residents of Shau Kei Wan.
The roof structure makes a semi-ellipsoid , with two large openings, to enhance the illumination in the indoor pool and spectator stand.
