Student Centre

The project concept originates from the tree branch-like development of columns. People are expected to explore in the fluid space, which resembles the experience of standing on a light tree branch and openness.

Standing in stark contrast to the beige, small-windowed dormitory buildings in the campus, the six-story student center has a simple ,rectangular floor plan within a steel structure that features the v-shaped steel columns as both structural supporting elements and space defining elements, which maximize the space and provides a fluid circulation. The circulation is from different directions, which leaves people to explore the space freely.

An all glass enclosure with a carefully positioned exterior  anodized aluminium mesh is another attribute that helps differentiate private and public space and regulate the amount of sunlight and heat entering the building.
